Village Mercantile is the modern embodiment of the general store from a bygone era, which strives to capture the warm, neighborly feeling that was ever-prevalent in these stores.
While what they carry is not as wide-ranging as these shops of old, they do still carry the same type of thoughtfully-made goods that these shops sold. They focus on sourcing items that are produced by artisans who are dedicated to the meticulous refinement of their craft, and handpick their materials, just as we handpick what comes into our store.
The name Village Mercantile represents both the location of the store in the Village of Larchmont, and the concept of the antiquated foundation in the modern store.
Village Mercantile was established in November 2014 by Vonnie Sullivan, a native of the Village of Mamaroneck. After twenty years of working in the fashion industry in such companies as Vogue and Conde Nast, Vonnie's focus turned towards opening her own shop, tailored to the local experience and curated to her remarkable taste for practical, yet beautiful design.
